The British Museum is the National Museum of the United Kingdom and is located on Great Russell Street in London. In 1823, Sir Robert Smirke designed the current neoclassical museum building. The collection of artefacts is one of the largest collections in the world. More than 6 million people visit the museum each year, which has an extensive collection of antiquities and exceptional artefacts from ancient and contemporary civilizations. The collection bridges over a million years of the history of humanity and is considered one of the most beautiful in the world.
